Kundalini Yoga Classes for Vitality and Stress Reduction

Kundalini yoga consists of a series of exercises called a ?kriya? that usually incorporate breath with a motion. There are literally hundreds of kriyas in Kundalini yoga, each designed to have a specific effect. The kriya is followed by a deep relaxation and a meditation. The meditations in Kundalini Yoga often involve a focus on the breath or the use of a mantra. Sound plays an important role in directing our attention and the vibration itself has physiological effects.

Julie K. Staples, Ph.D. is a certified Kundalini yoga teacher and has been teaching Kundalini yoga since 1996. She is the Research Director at the Center for Mind-Body Medicine. She has conducted research on yoga and mind-body medicine in traumatized civilian and military populations worldwide for over 20 years. Julie is also the author of the book Reclaiming Life after Trauma based on an Integrative Trauma Recovery Program using Kundalini yoga and cognitive-behavioral therapy for healing PTSD.
